My good friend Angela threw an amazing Alice in Wonderland party for her daughter a few months back. Angela is a party fanatic and passionate cake decorator and she always puts together the most amazing parties. This one was no exception. If you are planning a Mad Hatter Tea Party or Alice in Wonderland themed event, you will simply love all of the great ideas shown below.
A Mad Hatter Tea Party is usually based around a fabulously detailed party table with lots of layers and memorable messages such as “Eat Me” or “Drink Me”. Angela used our versatile black and white checked table cloth as the base and layered that with lots of tea party treats and gorgeous tableware.
To create the place settings, Angela used a few different ranges (details below) which were not necessarily matching but they all complemented each other well and came together with the use of repeating combinations on the table and common items such as the blue diagonal stripe paper napkins by Miss Etoile, large paper doilies and blue plastic cutlery. The adorable mini bottles with “Drink Me” tags attached with a little red bakers twine were a stunning finishing touch.
The gold and white plates are part of the Party Porcelain Gold collection and Angela used the small and dinner sizes. The delicate floral plates (bottom right image) are from the Blossom and Brogues collection and the bright floral plates (top right) are from the Floral Fiesta range which is now discontinued. The Truly Alice Whimsical Cups & Saucers were the perfect option for party drinks and the gold details on this range tie in well with the gold on the Party Porcelain Gold and Blossom and Brogues ranges.
The Truly Alice teapot cupcake stands were adorned with beautifully decorated cupcakes with lashings of icing, yum! There were two large cakes, both made by Angela, and lots of finger foods including dainty sandwiches and the cutest little fruit salads served in a mini tart case and decorated with fresh pansies. The party food was presented on cake stands in lots of different colours, sizes and heights.
There were many wonderful little details on this party table bringing out lots of elements from the Alice in Wonderland story (check out the cute eyes on the bunches of yellow flowers). And, it all started from the sign at the front door!
A big thank you to Angela for sharing this truly wonderful party with us.
